Second Grade Corn Husk Doll Craft

Our second grade students enjoyed creating corn husk dolls with the Nassau  BOCES Program today at CBS. The students created this colonial craft that pioneer children made centuries ago to engage in play and  socialize together. The  students  either created a super hero doll or a doll decorated with different fabric.  Students chose different material to add clothing to their dolls.  The creativity was flowing in the Stem Lab today as they created pants, dresses, scarves, capes, headbands and so much more. Each session ended with a legend story about the corn husk dolls with  the lesson  to never think you’re better than someone else.
