Charles Campagne Elementary School was buzzing with creativity and curiosity on May 22 as students and their families gathered for the highly anticipated Art and STEM Expo. The evening was a celebration of hands-on learning, innovation and imagination, offering students a chance to explore the intersection of art and science in a dynamic and interactive environment.
In the all-purpose room, families tapped into their artistic sides with a variety of engaging art activities led by CCS art teacher Ms. Danielle Hermann. Under her guidance, students explored different mediums and creative techniques in a welcoming, collaborative atmosphere.
Meanwhile, classrooms throughout the building were transformed into STEM exploration hubs, where students could try their hand at making ice cream, creating music with unconventional instruments, building with LEGOs, concocting slime, programming Bee Bots and playing math games.
The event was made possible thanks to the leadership of Ms. Hermann, Mr. John Titolo, Director of Math, and Mr. Chris Pollatos, Director of Science, as well as the support of student volunteers from Bethpage High School. Among the volunteers were members of the Math Honor Society and the award-winning Regal Eagles robotics team, who brought an extra level of excitement to the night.
In the gymnasium, the Regal Eagles wowed the crowd with live demonstrations of their competition robots. Some lucky students even had the chance to step into the driver’s seat and take the robots for a spin.
Another highlight of the evening was Bethpage’s mobile planetarium, the Star Lab, where Mr. Pollatos guided visitors through awe-inspiring journeys across the night sky.
The Art and STEM Expo was a true community collaboration that brought together students, families, educators and high school mentors in a celebration of learning and discovery.
