The JFK Annual Geography Bee took place January 15, 2026. It was an awesome event organized by District Social Studies Chairperson, Mrs. Indenbaum. 34 students from all grades competed against each other on various aspects of geography. This year's champion was 7th grader Jim Johnson and the runner up was 7th grader Aiden Pace. Both students are from Ms. Mastellone's 7th grade social studies class. Thank you to our PTA for the awesome decorations and to Mrs. Indenbaum and all of our amazing social studies teachers for keeping this event going. Hunger Is Not a Game! As 8th Grade English classes are reading Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games, they held a food drive to collect food items for St. Martin's Food Pantry. Students learned about the importance of combatting hunger in their own community and competed against other class periods to see who could donate the most. Mrs. Pelcher's 5th period class brought in over 200 non-perishable items! We are proud of all the students and thank every family who so graciously donated!

This month the character trait recognized at JFK was RESPONSIBILITY. Thank you to everyone who brought in items for the Student Council/Builders Club Food Drive and showed their responsibility towards their community. It was a close race between our grade level teams and here are the standings for our food drive competition. 1st place was the 8th grade Gold team, 2nd place was the 7th grade Gold team and 3rd place was the 7th grade Blue team! Our 8th grade Blue, and 6th grade teams still racked up points towards our yearlong Celebrating Character Competition so be on the lookout in December for our next competition to earn more points for your teams towards the end of the year prize! Pictured here are members of our 8th Grade Gold Team!
