Kramer Lane Second Graders Bring History to Life at Annual Wax Museum Event

Kramer Lane Elementary School’s all-purpose room was transformed into a vibrant living museum on May 15, as second grade students took part in the school’s annual Wax Museum event. Dressed as influential figures from history and the present day—including athletes, scientists, singers, activists and presidents—students stood ready to share the stories of the people who inspired them.

As family members, friends, teachers and district administrators walked through the space, they were invited to “press the button” on each student’s badge. In response, the students sprang to life, delivering engaging and well-researched presentations about their chosen historical or contemporary figure.

The Wax Museum is a highlight of the second grade curriculum at Kramer Lane. Each student selects a person who has made a meaningful impact in their field or community and embarks on a research project to learn more. Guided by their teachers, the students gather facts, write short biographies and rehearse their summaries both in the classroom and at home.

From Helen Keller to Albert Einstein, Suni Lee to George Washington, the event featured a rich variety of individuals whose legacies continue to shape the world. With enthusiasm and creativity, the second graders proudly stepped into their roles, making history come alive for their audience.

The Wax Museum not only gives students an opportunity to dive deep into the lives of inspiring people - it also builds their research, writing, and public speaking skills in a fun and memorable way. Congratulations to all the young historians for their hard work and fantastic performances!
