Central Boulevard School students recently received special visitors who came bearing gratitude and stories of service.
Carl Hager and Frank Sala, both former Paratroopers, visited Mrs. Parascondola's class to personally thank students for their generous donations to CBS' Socks for Veterans collection. The successful drive gathered much-needed items to help keep local heroes warm during the winter months.
The visit turned into an engaging learning experience as students eagerly asked the veterans about their military service. Their thoughtful questions included, Are you proud to be a veteran? Was it hard? Did your family miss you? and How old were you when you were drafted?
Mr. Sala and Mr. Hager were moved by the students' kindness and curiosity, creating a meaningful intergenerational connection. The school looks forward to welcoming both veterans back for its Flag Day celebration.
The Socks for Veterans drive exemplifies CBS' commitment to teaching students the importance of honoring those who have served our country while making a tangible difference in veterans' lives.
