Charles Campagne Elementary School (CCS) has officially joined the Energy Bus movement, becoming the second Bethpage elementary school to embrace this character-building initiative alongside Central Boulevard Elementary.
On Nov. 25, the school community gathered for an enthusiastic inaugural assembly led by Principal Ms. Julianne Inghilterra, school psychologist Dr. Louis Ricci and physical education teacher Mr. Nick Pepe. The event introduced students to the Energy Bus program, a character education framework inspired by Jon Gordon's motivational book “The Energy Bus.”
The program centers on five fundamental principles designed to foster a positive school culture:
* Create a positive vision
* Fuel your ride with positive energy
* No bullies allowed
* Love your passengers
* Enjoy the ride
The kickoff assembly brought the Energy Bus philosophy to life with music, dancing and plenty of enthusiasm. Students were treated to a surprise appearance by the Bethpage Golden Eagle mascot, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
During the program, Dr. Ricci, Ms. Inghilterra, and Mr. Pepe challenged students to select a personal word to focus on throughout the year – one that would help shape their individual positive vision. Each student will create a craft centered on their chosen word, and these meaningful creations will be displayed throughout the school's hallways, serving as daily reminders of the community's collective commitment to positivity.
Every CCS student received a special ticket symbolizing their place on the Energy Bus and their pledge to embrace the program's positive principles. The ticket serves as a tangible reminder of their role in creating and maintaining an uplifting school environment.
The November assembly marks just the beginning of the Energy Bus journey at CCS. Additional assemblies throughout the school year will revisit and reinforce the five core rules. The program will also recognize exemplary students through a Passengers of the Month initiative, celebrating those who demonstrate outstanding positivity and kindness.
With the Energy Bus officially in motion at Charles Campagne, the school community is ready to enjoy the ride toward a more positive, supportive and energized learning environment.
