Student and parent stacking cups.

CCS third graders recently welcomed a very special audience to school – their families – for a morning of friendly competition and fast-paced fun.

The event, a lively Minute to Win It challenge, put students and their special guests to the test with a series of activities, each with one simple rule: complete the task in 60 seconds or less. Hosted by the energetic Mr. Pepe, with support from Principal Julianne Inghilterra and the third grade teaching team, the multi-purpose room came alive with cheering, laughter and more than a little suspense as participants raced against the clock.

The challenges were as creative as they were entertaining. In Stack Attack, competitors had to build a 21-cup pyramid, then collapse it back into a single stack, before time ran out. Penny Tower tested steady hands and nerves of steel as participants stacked as many coins as possible in under a minute. Scoop it Up added a twist of blind luck, challenging players to ladle cotton balls into a bowl while blindfolded. Group the Loops called for precision and patience, requiring chopsticks to sort Froot Loops by color, and Book Cover Puzzles put spatial reasoning to the ultimate time-pressure test.

The morning was a wonderful reminder that some of the best learning happens when school and family come together and have a whole lot of fun.
