Students Supporting the Senior Citizen Prom 2026

Bethpage High School proudly continued one of its most cherished traditions on Sunday, April 26, 2026, as students welcomed local senior citizens to the annual Senior Citizen Prom. Now in its 30+ year legacy, the event remains a celebration of intergenerational connection and community spirit!

Organized by the Bethpage High School Student Council and advised by Ms. Way and Ms. Sestak, the Senior Citizen Prom once again brought together students and senior citizens for an afternoon filled with music, laughter, and dancing. This year’s event held special significance, as it marked the final prom for Ms. Way, who is retiring after years of dedicated service.

The Hollywood-themed celebration transformed the gymnasium into a glamorous scene complete with festive decorations, fun photo props, and themed gift bags for attendees. Students served as attentive host, waiting on guests, sharing conversations, and filling the dance floor with energy and enthusiasm.

Teacher volunteers Ms. Garvey and Mrs. Feyrer played an important role in supporting the event, helping ensure that everything ran smoothly and that guests felt welcomed and celebrated.

A highlight of the afternoon was the crowning of this year’s Prom King and Queen—Ms. Garvey’s parents—whose surprise and excitement reflected the heartwarming nature of the event.

Year after year, the Senior Citizen Prom continues to be a treasured experience for all involved. The senior citizens consistently express how much they value the opportunity to connect with students, while students gain a deeper appreciation for community, service, and shared experiences.
