The Bethpage High School World Languages Department has been honored with the Andiamo Award from the Italian American Heritage Society of Long Island, recognizing the department's dedication to Italian language education and cultural programming.

Italian American Heritage Society founder Chris Vaccaro presented the award to World Languages Coordinator Tiffany Salcedo and Italian teacher and Italian Club advisor Francesca Calio at Bethpage High School on May 5.

The honor specifically highlights the department's annual Carnevale event, a community celebration of Italian culture featuring an evening of food and music that was launched last year and has become a cornerstone of the school's cultural calendar. This year's event was made possible in part by the Italian Club officers: Olivia Bergen, Logan Harrison, Christopher Jenal, Giuseppe Licandro, Ava Morgan, Payton Morgan, Aaryan Rupesh, and Daniella Russo. Their leadership helped make this year's Carnevale the largest yet.

The Italian American Heritage Society of Long Island works to inspire the next generation of Italian Americans on Long Island by honoring Italian heritage through cultural celebration, exploration and community connection.

Congratulations to Ms. Salcedo, Ms. Calio, and the entire World Languages Department on this well-deserved recognition.
