On the evening of May 26, members of the Bethpage community gathered in the athletic barn at Bethpage High School to celebrate two milestones that mark the best of a school community: the achievement of tenure and the close of long, dedicated careers. Thirteen staff members were recognized for tenure, and fifteen retirees were honored, many of whom have spent decades in service to the district. Family members and colleagues filled the space for a recognition ceremony followed by refreshments.

The program was led by Kevin Fullerton, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources, with a welcome and remarks from Superintendent of Schools David Schneider. The Board of Education was also in attendance. Bethpage High School's Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Eric Kay, performed a selection of classical pieces throughout the evening.

The following staff members were recognized for tenure: Jeanine Ceccoli (speech pathologist, districtwide); Annmarie Cronin (special education teacher, CBS); Kevin Fullerton (Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources); Erin Hayes (Principal, JFK); Nicole Lobosco (special education/math teacher, BHS); Elfetheria Lisa Mavroukas (teaching assistant, CBS); Jennifer McAvoy (2nd grade teacher, KL); Taylor McMullan (business teacher, BHS); Anastasia Monoyos (1st grade teacher, CBS); Anthony Musto (social studies teacher, BHS); Kyle Shanahan (physical education/health teacher, BHS); Toni Ann Venuti (family and consumer sciences teacher, JFK); and Veronica Weber (teaching assistant, CBS).

Retirees honored at the ceremony included: Elena Becker (district clerk and secretary to the superintendent); Lynn Diamond (secretary to the principal, JFK); John Franchi (director of physical education, health and athletics); Angela Ingoglia (senior clerk for pupil personnel); Renee Katz (senior clerk for pupil personnel); Jacqueline LaRose (clerical for the instructional office); Arati Marathe (math teacher, BHS); Susan McGarvey (4th grade teacher, CCS); Lawrence Portuese (science teacher, BHS); Michael Posch (physical education teacher, CCS); Valerie Riccardello (senior clerk, JFK); Terri Shutkind (social studies teacher, BHS); Ellen Tjimos (senior clerk for pupil personnel); Theresa Torti (kindergarten teacher, CBS); and Wendy Way (social studies teacher, BHS).

The district congratulates all those recognized and extends its deepest gratitude for their years of dedication to students, families and the broader school community.
