Bethpage marks first-ever Latin Night with music, food and community

On May 27, Bethpage High School welcomed families from all five schools to its courtyard for the district's first-ever Latin Night celebration, an evening honoring Hispanic and Latino culture through live music, food and community connection.

The turnout was strong, with families, students and teachers filling the space and taking part in the festivities. Families donated homemade dishes such as empanadas, fried rice, and more, giving attendees a chance to sample food from across different regions.

A live band, which included Director of Fine and Performing Arts Brent Chiarello, performed salsa music throughout the evening, drawing guests to sing along and dance together. Younger attendees kept busy at coloring stations, while tables decorated with the flags of various Spanish-speaking countries reflected the rich diversity of the culture. Some attendees arrived in traditional dress, adding to the vibrant atmosphere.

It was a colorful, joyful evening and a promising start to what the World Languages department hopes will become an annual tradition. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped make it possible.
