The second annual BHS Buddies kickball game brought students and staff together on June 2 for an afternoon of teamwork and friendship on the school's softball field.
BHS Buddies is an initiative created by Athletic Director Alyssa Kildare Kaiser that connects seniors with ACE (Academic and Career Experience) students through shared gym activities. Participating seniors give up their senior period every other day to join ACE students during first-period gym classes throughout the year, building relationships that extend well beyond the classroom.
That commitment came to life on the softball field, where mixed teams of ACE students and seniors competed in the highly anticipated kickball game immediately after the school day ended. Staff and administrators turned out to cheer them on, adding to the energy of an already enthusiastic crowd.
Under a bright afternoon sun, the spirit of the day went beyond the final score. What started as a year of shared gym periods had grown into something more meaningful: a community of students who show up for each other.
