Bethpage Public Schools will host its Parent Wellness Academy on Sept. 30 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Bethpage High School, offering families practical information and strategies for navigating screen time, online safety and the many ways technology can affect children’s lives.
For elementary families, the evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the BHS auditorium with a presentation featuring a POP Officer and a Northwell social worker. The discussion will cover screen time, social media, online safety, gaming, sleep, focus and the social challenges technology can present for children. Parents will leave with practical strategies, resources and ideas they can put to use right away to help their children develop a healthier relationship with technology.
While parents attend the presentation, elementary PE teachers will supervise and engage students in activities in the auxiliary gym. At 7:30 p.m., elementary parents will have the opportunity to visit Wellness and SEL tables in the BHS gymnasium, where staff and students will share information about programs and initiatives offered throughout the district.
For secondary families, the evening will begin with a visit to the Wellness and SEL tables in the BHS gymnasium from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Families will then attend the screen time and online safety presentation in the auditorium from 7:30-8:30 p.m.
The Parent Wellness Academy is an opportunity for families to learn more about supporting student wellness, connect with district resources and discover the many programs and initiatives available to Bethpage students and families.
