Bethpage UFSD kicked off the new school year by welcoming families and community members to its annual Back to School Bash on Sept. 18 at Bethpage High School.
Food trucks lined the back fields, offering everything from lobster rolls to ice cream, while families gathered around tables to eat and catch up. Younger students darted between hair braiding, the cotton candy machine and what is always one of the night’s biggest draws: Foam Long Island. Two giant cannons blasted mountains of suds into the air, and before long, a sea of kids was happily soaked. Kudos to the parents who have learned from previous years and arrived prepared, with everything from raincoats to swimsuits.
Older students filled the football field and stands as a DJ played popular tunes. Students tossed footballs, practiced tumbling tricks and lounged together in groups, enjoying the chance to reconnect with friends and classmates as the new school year got underway.
Meanwhile, PTAs and SEPTA lined the walkways to the athletic complex with booths offering school spirit gear and other items, raising funds for programs that directly benefit Bethpage students. Local community organizations, including the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, also joined the festivities.
The Back to School Bash has become a fall tradition that brings Bethpage families together each year, offering a relaxed and spirited way for the school community to reconnect and celebrate the start of another school year.
