Bethpage High School is launching another year of its Sources of Strength peer leadership program, bringing together a new team of students committed to building a supportive, connected school community. This week, incoming peer leaders gathered for training and began building the skills and knowledge needed to serve as positive influences and trusted peer advocates throughout the school year.
Sources of Strength is a nationally recognized program focused on promoting mental wellness, strengthening resilience and encouraging students to seek support when needed. Through a framework centered on eight key sources of strength, including family, friends, mentors, healthy activities and access to wellness resources, the program empowers students to recognize and build upon the positive supports in their lives.
Throughout the year, peer leaders will partner with faculty mentors to organize activities and awareness campaigns that emphasize connection, hope and well-being. By encouraging open conversations and highlighting available supports, students help create a culture where everyone feels valued, included and empowered to reach out for help.
Bethpage High School is excited to see this year’s peer leaders make a meaningful difference as they promote kindness, resilience and a sense of belonging across the school community.
