Central Boulevard Elementary School shifted into high gear as students gathered for an engaging assembly focused on the first rule of the Energy Bus for Schools program: “You’re the Driver.”
Based on Jon Gordon’s book “The Energy Bus,” the program is designed to inspire positive attitudes, personal responsibility and strong school communities. This year marks Central Boulevard’s sixth year participating in the initiative, which centers around five key rules for being a good passenger on the Energy Bus:
You’re the driver.
Create a positive vision.
Fuel your ride with positive energy.
Love your passengers.
Enjoy the ride.
The assembly was held twice, once for students in kindergarten through second grade and again for students in grades 3-5, allowing each group to explore the importance of Rule No. 1.
Assistant principal Michelle Tavormina and district psychologist Lou Ricci spoke with students about the power of personal choice and responsibility, reinforcing the message that each student is in control of their own actions and decisions.
To bring that lesson to life, one student and one teacher from each grade level were invited to participate in a fun obstacle course that simulated “driving” their bus to Central Boulevard. The activity underscored the assembly’s central theme: students are responsible for navigating their own paths and making positive choices along the way.
The event concluded with music and dancing, sending students back to their classrooms energized and inspired. With a renewed commitment to positive attitudes and personal responsibility, Central Boulevard’s young drivers are ready to take the wheel and make the most of the school year ahead.
