Central Boulevard, Charles Campagne and Kramer Lane students in the district's Argonaut Program recently visited the Cold Spring Harbor DNA Learning Center. During this exciting trip, the students extracted wheat germ DNA and looked at the genetic mutations of fruit flies. In addition, the students learned about Otzi, the 5300-year-old mummy that was found in the Tyrolean Alps. It was a great experience!

Yesterday, Central Boulevard students kicked off Nutrition Week with the help of Brian Richards and his assembly program, The Magic of 5-A-Day! Through magic tricks and comedy, the students learned about the importance of a balanced diet which includes five servings of fruits and vegetables each day. They also learned about how the colors of fruits and vegetables benefit different parts of the body and how to know the difference between “sometimes food” and “all-the-time food.”
